Why I Made “A Smaller Big Bang”

Sometimes an idea for a movie starts with an emotion. That's the case with "A Smaller Big Bang." It all started when I was sitting in a packed theater for the first time in two years about to watch my directorial debut short film, "Talentless." It was then when I was reintroduced to the magic of cinema. I forgot how much I missed having a shared emotional experience with people in my community.

I left that theater with an overwhelming, but simple want. I wanted to make a film that would put a smile on people's faces. That's where the seed of Big Bang hails from.

This movie's filled with twists and turns. Like some of my favorite films of the past, it traverses the emotional landscape. "A Smaller Big Bang" is packed with moments of drama, levity, tension and action.

It was also made with the help of a directing fellowship I took part in: BlackMagic Collective's First Frame Initiative.

When it comes to the biggest reason on why I made this film, it’s simple… to leave audiences with a smile on their faces long after the credits roll.
